The fastest way to make money online is by providing a service directly to the buyer. However, if you are just starting out and you don’t have any skills to provide as a service… you first must learn said skill. If you aren’t willing to put in the work and learn a skill that can earn you $90+ per hour… this isn’t the video for you! However, if you are willing to put in the work and follow these steps, let’s get started! 😉
First, you must have an internet connection, a laptop/computer, and a video editing software for this method because you are going to be providing video editing services. There are a few reasons why I chose this method, but the #1 reason is because it is a HUGE pain-point for MANY… in an industry that is continuing to grow every single day. So if you take the time to truly learn this skill and work hard, sky’s the limit!
Before the next step, I suggest watching a couple basic tutorials to learn how to use your editing software (iMovie for mac & Filmora9 for windows) but then you want to actually provide your video editing services to people for free. There are a few reasons for this:
1. Doing is the best teacher and you will learn much faster.
2. You will get real feedback with constructive criticism.
3. People will be much more willing to hire you if you started off with a free-trial/internship with them (reciprocity is real).
And many more reasons. But I know so many people struggle with the idea of “working for free” but those same people don’t bat an eyelash at going to college for 4 years (or more) to go tens of thousands of dollars into debt… without even learning a skill you can monetize right away, like you can with video editing. So working for free for a couple weeks or a month… that’s nothin.
Now, to actually find these people is simple. But before that, I would suggest choosing a niche first. Like do you want to focus on editing gaming content? maybe beauty content? If you like a certain type of content, I suggest choosing that – it will make your life much easier because then you can just focus on one type of content/niche and you will become an expert in that niche much faster.
So for finding the people to edit for, you are going to want to really focus a ton of your time on this… post in FB groups, comment on YT videos, send emails to people on YT, DM people on IG, email people on IG, go on reddit… there are people everywhere, you just have to put in the work and reach out! It may take 1, 5, 20, 50, 100 messages… but it WILL happen. And once you’ve found a couple people to edit for, that’s when you want to really work hard and prove yourself because you may end up getting hired on full-time if you do really well.
The last step, get paid. But don’t focus on this until you actually have someone who wants to hire you or pay you to edit their videos because you need you parent to co-sign or create the account for you if you’re under 18. The reason you wait until you have someone ready to pay you is because parents get confused with this online stuff, but if you tell them this after you already been at it a month or so and someone is trying to pay you, then it’s much more real than just saying “hey I’m starting this thing, yada yada ya.”
